    Accountant (Retail Sector)

    Key Responsibilities and Duties:


    • Sales reconciliation and verification of all sales transactions incurred
      • Ensure all cash sales transactions are recorded accurately
      • Ensure all card transactions are recorded accurately
      • Daily reconciliation of merchant device transactions to sales transactions
      • Daily reconciliation of cash up transactions to sales transactions


    • Stock reconciliations and ensuring stock levels are kept up to date on the system
      • Ensure routine physical stock takes have been performed
      • Perform surprise stock counts at retail stores
      • Ensure optimal inventory levels are maintained at each retail store
      • Continuous analyses of retail store performance vs budgeted performance


    • Weekly Retail Dashboard reporting of each retail store


    • Maintaining and preparing monthly and annual financial performance of each retail store
      • Profit and Loss of each store
      • Balance Sheet of each store


    • Performing of daily bank reconciliations of each retail store


    • Design and implement general controls to ensure completeness and accuracy of financial information


    Qualifications, skills, and knowledge:


    • BCom Accounting or similar degree
    • 2-3 years’ experience, preferably in retail industry/ financial and operations environment
    • Storing numerical and analytical ability – proven analytical skills with the ability to use data to frame, dissect and solve problems logically
    • Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, and Outlook)
    • Ability to work in a team
    • Ability to work under high pressure in a deadline driven environment
    • Data management
    • Attention to detail
    • Ability to communicate at all levels
    • Demonstrated administrative skill
